Reader Input: Mental health program excels

-A +A

The Auburn Journal recently ran a wonderful front-page headline article on mental health and an upcoming workshop on the subject (“Area mental health services wrestle with growing demand,” Journal, March 17).
I participated in the 12-hour workshop last week with a Mental Health First Aid WSA workbook.
The subjects covered were depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance abuse (including tobacco) and eating disorders.
The workshop was excellent and the facilitators hope to run it again. It would be great if the first aid information were available to our schools and community colleges. It is funded though a grant from Prop. 63.
Thank you to the Auburn Journal for putting a spotlight on mental health.
The more informed we all become, the healthier society will be.
