Reader Input: Resist a federal abuse of power

-A +A

The president proposes “reasonable gun laws,” but what is the most compelling definition of “reasonable?” To Obama, reasonable, is that he, his wife and daughters are protected by the very best, fully armed, 24 hours a day. Thousands of others face illegal shooters, still out there.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry, nailed it: “Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons, and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.”
Sheriff Danny Peyman of Jackson County, Ky., reminded Americans concerned about the federal government’s continued efforts to destroy the U.S. Constitution that there is still a powerful and peaceful means of resistance — the county sheriff.
“My office will not comply with any federal action which violates the U.S. Constitution or the Kentucky Constitution which I swore to uphold.”
The brave officer hopes that his public message will encourage other law enforcement officers to join him in resisting federal abuses of power.
“Just a few of us have to be willing to stand up to political opposition putting our people at risk,” Peyman said. And I agree, I am willing to fight for our freedoms.
