Reader Input: Santa Claus policies don’t fly

-A +A

Wayne Manning’s letter to the editor (“Good luck seceding,” Reader Input, Nov. 27) named six points seceding states should expect — note that each of his points flows from a behemoth Federal government.

The greatness of America never flowed from an enormous and overbearing Federal government benevolently passing out goodies to their friends (think Solyndra and Obama phones).

Obama and his looters in Washington have made themselves the arbiters of “fairness,” pushing their philosophy of from each according to ability, to each according to need — and in the last four years have racked up over $5 trillion in new debt, trillion-dollar-plus deficit each year, and borrowing 40 cents of every dollar they spend. How long do you think this can go on?

No, Wayne, if states seceded, and a wall was built between seceding states and Obama states, how long do you think it would be before the Obama states fiscally collapse into the Stone Age and the Obama voters start tunneling under the wall to try to collect goodies from seceding states?

Instead of seceding, why not go back to the foundation that made our country great — the Constitution — but that would require swearing off Santa Claus government.
