Reader Input: Sheriffs gave students a great day

-A +A

So often these days parents and community members help support their local schools through financial donations, volunteering time  and donating supplies.

I would like the community to know of the wonderful trick-or-treat field trip that the Placer County Sheriff’s Office offered to all students on Halloween. As an educator of students with severe needs, a field trip to the sheriff’s department was a wonderful and educational experience that helped students work on educational goals and gave students the opportunity to trick-or-treat in a festive, safe way.

This trip did not cost students money and the time, work and effort in decorating the different departments showed how much PCSO cares about students. All of the employees that participated volunteered their time and money to purchase decorations and candy.

Due to my students’ needs and lack of funding for field trips, this gave my students the opportunity to participate in an activity like their general education peers.

Fun was had by all and we wanted to say thank you to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office for continuing to be positive role models and for caring about students.
