With temperatures falling, the homeless suffer. They become victims of our apathy. When it’s not us we can turn away. And it’s easy to do. But, something can be done. Since many of us pay taxes, the county can do their part. They can open up the fairgrounds for these people to stay. They can provide food and shelter for these poor souls.
This is a better investment than building more jails and paying high salaries and huge benefits for those that have enough to survive on.
We do a great disservice to ourselves, when we don’t support those that need our help the most. Our economic resources should be utilized to support the needy, not the plenty who have enough!
