Re: “Man on a healing mission passes through Auburn on foot,” Journal, Oct. 2:
My concern is with Alastair McCandless’ last 3,900 miles spent through this 90-100 degree weather with no end for a lousy $10,000 donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. That averages $2.50 per grueling mile. As he started from Delaware to California, he was committed from every step.
Although I have no relation with Alastair, he and those of the Wounded Warrior Project deserve more than a mere $10,000 for traveling on foot some 4,000 miles from the East Coast to the West Coast.
I ask you, would you walk a mile for $2.50? Would you spend six months to contribute to a charity for war veterans? Would you do so much for so little? I ask you to contribute more to the Wounded Warrior Project.
