Meet records fell in bunches last Friday at the third annual Steve March Relays at Del Oro High — and most were claimed by the host team. For starters, the Golden Eagles’ co-ed shuttle hurdle team of Lauren Anderson, Desiree Bacchi, Casey Wheeler and Joe Ganoug, set a new mark in winning their event. Then the girls 4x100 relay team of Clara Clement, Brie Simmons, Jessica Mixon and McKenzie Landry won their event in a meet-record 50.4 seconds. Landry also teamed with Vicki Warner to win the pole vault, with Landry clearing the bar at 12 feet, 3 inches to establish one of the top marks in the state. Also setting a meet record for Del Oro was the girls 4x800 relay team of Caitlin Devitt-Payne, Emma Freeman, Jessie Rozario and Alissa Hood. Freeman later took first in the 3,200 meters with a time of 12:07, followed by Hood in second at 12:24 and Alexa Lua in third at 12:36. Simmons, Hailey Parkhouse-McAllister, Caitlin Curtis and Maurine Watkins teamed up to win the sprint medley for Del Oro. Parkhouse-McAllister, Watkins, and Curtis also joined with Jessica Mixon to win the 4x200, and Mixon, Emily Mattevi, and Warner combined to win the triple jump. On the boys side, Cole Pendergrass, Kenny Andri, Bryce Pratt and Angelo Pasquale teamed up to set a meet record in the 4x100. The same four runners also won the sprint medley, and Pratt, Andri and Pasquale were also part of Del Oro’s winning 4x200 squad along with Kai Von Alvensleben. Blake Landry, Travis Doupnik and K.J. Sandher combined their efforts to win the boys shot put for the Golden Eagles. Nathan Paddeck took second in the boys 3,200 in 10:20. Toby Uptain-Villa was fourth at 10:48. In the team standings, Del Oro’s girls won with 130 points, 47 ahead of second-place Placer. The Eagles’ boys, meanwhile, edged Placer 97-93.
