Two Auburn Area Recreation and Parks District board directors are officially beginning their new terms. Director Scott Holbrook and Director Curt Smith were re-elected Nov. 2 after running against newcomers Chris Asbury and Larry Tracy. Placer County Supervisor Jim Holmes administered the oath of office to Smith Thursday at ARD’s district offices at 471 Maidu Drive. District Administrator Kahl Muscott gave the oath of office to Holbrook Friday at the district offices. Holbrook said he was looking forward to his fourth term on the board. “I am looking forward to continuing the positive growth at ARD, and am prepared to tackle the tough economic times that we are all facing,” Holbrook said. Smith, who is beginning his second four-year term on the board, said he is looking forward to being a part of a team that gets past any rough situations the district faces. “I am pleased to be starting another term as a member of the Auburn Recreation board of directors,” Smith said. “There are many challenges looming on the horizon for the district that will require the board to act diligently and with due consideration for all of the activities it supports. I hope to be a part of the solution to these challenges and look forward to the cooperation of everyone on the board. Thank you for another chance to serve.” ~Staff report
