Skeet Reese has a chance to turn around a forgettable season on the Bassmaster Elite Series beginning today on the Alabama River. The professional angler from Auburn is competing in the Evan Williams Bourban All-Star Championship in Montgomery, Ala. He was voted into the event by fans on the West coast and is the No. 8 seed in the eight-man event after a qualifying event at Lake Jordan last weekend. Reese will take on top seed Casey Ashley in the match format tournament today. The winner will be crowned on Sunday and will claim the $100,000 top prize. Reese has been a perennial contender in fishing’s top series for the past several seasons, but he has slipped in 2011. Reese is currently 52nd in the Bassmaster Elite Series standings and is without a top-10 finish in a regular tournament this year. The Christian Valley resident has six wins and 56 top-10 finishes in his prolific career.
