Reinstate Placer Peer Court

The Placer County Peer Court would appear to be one of our much needed funded programs. This program has become a role model for similar programs that have been adopted around the country. It appears that by educating our junior and high school students to the consequences of their bad behavior juvenile crime has drastically decreased in Placer County. This at a reduced cost to the taxpayers. A single case in Juvenile Peer Court runs about $470; while a similar case through the Juvenile Justice System runs around $4,000. This seems to be a “no-brainer.” I appeal to our local elected officials and our legislators to reinstate funds to allow this program to continue for the public safety of the residents of Placer County.
