Residents can comment on new septic requirements

-A +A
Regarding Mr. Jim Joyner’s letter to the editor of Tuesday, Jan. 20, concerning California’s requirements for inspections of septic tanks and water wells as called for in AB885 ... This bill is not in the consideration or proposal stage, it was already passed by the California Assembly back in the year 2000. A Draft Environmental Impact Report is now in the comment phase. If AB885 passes the next round of actions, it will be invoked in January of 2010, with full implementation scheduled for July 1 of next year. If Mr. Joyner or other residents of Meadow Vista and Placer County wish to express their feelings about these regulations, they should plan to attend the meeting of the State Water Resources Control Board, currently scheduled for Feb. 9. Comments will be heard at that time. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Byron Sher Auditorium, Cal/EPA Building, 1001 I Street in Sacramento. Complete details about AB885 can be found online at this Web site: Comments can also be e-mailed to Neil Cochran Foresthill
