The Rocklin All Stars were eliminated from the District 11, Area 1 Majors Division All-Star tournament with a wild 11-9 loss to Auburn. In a game that saw five-lead changes, Rocklin at one point led 9-4. Auburn tied the score with a five-run fifth inning. In the next inning, Auburn scored two runs to take the lead for what would be the last lead change in the game. Despite the loss, plenty of Rocklin?s players put up special offensive performances. Third-baseman Trevor Barnes had the lone multi-hit performance. He finished the night 3-for-3 with one run scored and two runs driven in. Aaron Snell?s double in the fourth inning came with the bases loaded; all three runners scored on the play. Lead-off hitter Sam Portello scored two runs and reached base three times. Brooks McKeighan, Matthew Alexander and Davis Gomes each contributed singles that would lead to runs scored. Auburn advances to the championship round and will play Lincoln for the second time in the tournament. In the first meeting, Auburn did not get a runner into scoring position until after the second out of the last inning. Lincoln went on to win the first-round matchup 5-0. The championship game will be played 7 p.m. on July 7 at Twin Oaks Park. With Lincoln yet to suffer a loss, Auburn has to defeat them twice to claim the Area 1 crown. The winner will then advance to play the winner of Area 2 for the District crown.
