A rollover on westbound Interstate 80 at the Ophir exit injured one person and backed up traffic for a short time shortly before 5:30 p.m. Monday. According to Officer David Martinez, spokesman for the California Highway Patrol’s Auburn office, a Toyota Prius was traveling in the No. 1 lane when it was overtaken by a black Honda of unknown model traveling at a high rate of speed. “The Honda struck the Prius,” Martinez said. “It spun both vehicles out of control. The Prius overturned.” The front bumper of the Honda was ripped off in the impact, but there was no license plate attached. The Honda then fled the scene, he said. The driver of the Prius, identified only as a female by Martinez, was taken by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with moderate injuries, he said. No additional information was available on the injured female. By 6 p.m. the accident was cleared and traffic flowing again. Investigation into the crash is continuing. ~ Staff report
