By: ToLewis, The Press Tribune
A Roseville woman was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of murdering her 2-year-old daughter. Just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Roseville police were called out to a home in the 300 block of Diamond Oaks Road to a report of a child not breathing, according to Dee Dee Gunther of the Roseville Police Department. Upon arrival to the home, police and fire crews found the child’s mother, Denise Marie Wilder, 37, of Roseville, intoxicated and her 2-year-old child, McKinley, deceased, police said. Police initially found the circumstances surrounding the death to be suspicious, however no arrests were made at the time. Wilder was later arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of homicide and child endangerment. The home where the girl was found belongs to her grandparents, who were out of town at the time. Police were notified when a family friend had gone to the home looking for the child’s mother. Denise Wilder’s other child, a 5-year-old girl, was also at the scene and released to the custody of Child Protective Services. She has since been placed with family. Police have not offered any information as to a possible motive due to the ongoing investigation and pending autopsy results. Toby Lewis can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
