The California Board of Accountancy, or CBA, announced this week it has taken serious action against Granite Bay’s Larry Wayne Harmon, a certified public accountant now accused of forging signatures of bank officers.

Harmon is the owner of Harmon and Associates in Roseville. According to CBA Executive Officer Patti Bowers, Harmon forged signatures of bank officers on defaulted vehicle loans, allegedly netting more than $6 million in illegal tax refunds from the California Board of Equalization.

Harmon was recently arrested by the California Department of Justice. Bowers said that, in response to the arrest, CBA has temporarily suspended Harmon’s accounting license.

“Mr. Harmon is out on bail,” Bowers said in a statement. “This interim suspension order will prevent him from further abusing his CPA license until an administrative hearing before the CBA can be held.”

She added that Harmon reportedly confessed to falsifying tax reports to state investigators.
