Cal got a win Friday in Utah, but starting pitcher Ryan Mason got no decision.

The 2012 Placer High alumnus Mason, getting the call in the Pac-12 baseball opener against the Utes in Salt Lake City, worked 5 1/3 innings Friday. He allowed six hits, three runs and no walks, while striking out three.

Cal coach David Esquer said, "Ryan Mason was solid, but ran out of gas in the sixth inning," according to calbears.com.

With the win, the Bears improved to 11-7.
