The Placer High girls soccer team used two Sabrina Viscuso goals to earn a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over visiting Center Wednesday afternoon at Railhead Park in a Pioneer Valley League game.

Placer (5-7, 2-0) fell down 1-0 after goalkeeper Jenelle Pickard (five saves) allowed a scored in the first half.

But the Lady Hillmen got the equalizer with 10 minutes remaining until halftime when Samantha Slade connected with Viscuso. Placer’s game-winning goal was assisted by Tiffany Harben.

Coach Steve Cook said Claire Brown, who was called up from the junior varsity team, played well defensively. He also credited Brittany Bartle, Alex Lee, Mikayla Lopez and Maddy Waters for their solid play on the backend.

Olivia Holmes and Macaylea Mitchell helped Placer control the middle, Cook said.

Next up on the field for the Lady Hillmen is a showdown at Colfax Monday at 4 p.m. The Lady Falcons are also unbeaten in league play.

But first, Placer is hosting a golf tournament as a fundraiser on Saturday. A $50 registration fee includes driving range balls, golf cart, nine holes of play and a BBQ lunch. Tee time is set for 11 a.m. at Black Oak Golf Course. Non-golfers are also being encouraged to attend the meal ($12).

Registration is still open. For more information, contact Sandi Viscuso, treasurer of the Lady Hillman Soccer Booster Club, at 210-5580.
