The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $25,000 reward to help solve a 23-year cold case. On June 2, 1986 Haley Wing, 76, was murdered outside his son’s home in Rescue. Wing had gone to his son’s residence located just off Green Valley Road to check into a possible burglary. Wing was shot and killed while at his son’s home. Over the past 23 years countless leads have been brought to investigators attention, but the murderer has not been identified and brought to justice. The family requests that all contacts be channeled through the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s officials say they understand that sometimes people are hesitant to “get involved.” They would like to assure citizens that their information will be kept confidential. A $25,000 reward has been offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in the murder of Wing. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact Detective Rick Fitzgerald at (530) 642-4718 or Detective Rich Strasser at (530) 642-4712. - Staff report
