The Sierranaders, the local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, had their annual installation dinner gala Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Power Club in Auburn. Seven officers and three members at large were all sworn in, with the past president, Tony Prowense passing the gavel on to Verne Bagby. Long time barbershopper Don Salz, from Sacramento, installed all the new officers using a fun NASCAR format, and thanked the outgoing board. The buffet meal was sumptuous, and, as usual, there was lots of 4-part harmony singing. Five different quartets sang, as well as the entire chorus, to the delight of the audience. The group loves to sing, has great comradeship, and invites all men to come sing with them. Their weekly practice is held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the DeWitt Center, 11577 E Ave. Call Verne Bagby at (530) 268-3405 for further information. Up next for the Sierranaders is their annual singing Valentines. A spiffy quartet will appear at your local location, sing two great songs, and present a rose to that special person. Cost is $35. For loved ones out of the area, a singing long- distance phone call is available for $15. To schedule a Valentine, or for information, call Clifford Johnson at (530) 346-2757.
