A singing tribute to Martin Luther King

Sierra Foothills Unitarian Universalists joined with the New Home Baptist Church Choir for a tribute to the life’s work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Saturday in Auburn. Rev. Wendy Bartel and Rev. Lynn Gardner led the gathering, which included excerpts from King’s “I Have a Dream,” and “Letter from Birmingham Jail” speeches. The choir performed several spiritual songs. “Since the late 1980s there has been some sort of tribute, and for the last five or six years it has been in conjunction with the New Home Baptist Church," Gardner said. “It’s important to continue to remember and move forward."
