A skateboarder riding on Auburn-Folsom Road was struck by a vehicle and later died at the hospital Friday night. Nicholas Brown, a 19-year-old Elk Grove resident, was riding in both lanes of traffic at about 8:40 p.m. in the area of Indian Hill Road in Auburn, according to Sgt. Dale Hutchins with the Auburn Police Department. “He was skateboarding in a serpentine fashion — left and right — going across the road,” Hutchins said Saturday. “A vehicle traveling southbound on Auburn- Folsom Road didn’t see him and the skateboarder crossed in front of the vehicle and was struck.” Brown was transported to Sutter Roseville Trauma Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Speed does not appear to have been a factor in the crash and no citations were issued. “We don’t anticipate a citation will be issued to anyone,” Hutchins said. The teen's father said his son had been waiting in Auburn for his girlfriend to get off work, according to Hutchins. The accident closed a portion of Auburn-Folsom Road in South Auburn for about two hours. The Auburn Police Department said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
