Spots open for APD citizens’ academy

Interested in police work? The Auburn Police Department is accepting applications for their Citizens’ Awareness Academy. The free, nine-week program begins April 15. As of Tuesday there were 25 open spots. Participants will learn about municipal policing, patrol procedures and investigations, vehicle operations, arrest and control techniques, 911 communications, animal control and how the department interacts with other law enforcement agencies. The academy will meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at City Hall until June 10. Participants must older than 18, live in Auburn and have no felony convictions.
