One man is dead and another is injured after a head-on collision on Highway 49 Monday night, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
Around 7:10 p.m., Tyler Gevas, 18, of Grass Valley, was driving his 2002 Toyota Tacoma south on 49 going 55 miles per hour, the report stated. At the same time, Noel Camacho, 35, of Stockton, was driving his 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe north on 49, according to the report.
The report goes on to say that due to fatigue, Gevas' vehicle drifted into the northbound lane, colliding with Camacho's Chevrolet head-on near Brewer Road.
Camacho was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and Gevas was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for moderate injuries. A passenger in Camacho's vehicle, Maria Pineda, 29, of Stockton, was also taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for major injuries along with a one-year-old who was uninjured.
The road was closed for an hour after the accident.
