Storm takes LL tuneup in Tahoe

The Auburn Storm 16-and-under softball team stepped it up to win the Capitol Sports Tahoe/Incline Tournament last weekend in the 18-and-under division.
The Storm tied the first game of the tournament before reeling off four straight wins, including an 8-7 thriller over Half Moon Bay in the championship game.
On Sunday, Auburn battled past the San Francisco Angels 3-2 to land in the title game. The Storm jumped out to an early lead on Half Moon Bay before holding on in the end thanks to some sharp defense.
As a team, Auburn batted .416 in the tournament, including 10 doubles, five triples and one home run. Kailey Gaffney led the charge, going 11-for-14 with two triples and a double while Taylor Graham was 8-for-15 with two doubles and a triple. Haley Tupen had a two-run h ome run in the tournament opener and was 6-for-13 in the tournament. Kacy Romero (two doubles, one triple), Alyssa Chapman (two doubles) and Nicole Nevares (three doubles) were all offensive standouts.
Pitcher Jenna Knox pitched four strong games, compiling a 2.40 ERA for the tournament with 15 strikeouts and nine walks in 23 innings. Nevares pitched one complete game with no earned runs.
The Auburn squad is preparing for the upcoming Little League playoffs, which begin Saturday in Rio Linda.
Storm 10-under team wins again
The Auburn Storm 10-and-under team won the Incline Village tournament last weekend for their second straight tournament win.
Many of the Storm team members will head to Concord this weekend to compete with the Auburn Little League All-Stars in the Division 2 Tournament.
