A little more winter is on its way just in time for spring break. This weekend’s supposed to be “splendid,” said Johnnie Powell, forecaster, National Weather Service, Sacramento. Today through Sunday Auburnites can expect mostly sunny skies, with highs in the 60s. Monday, Powell said, is another story. “The weekend looks good — it’s Monday when the tables turn,” he said. High temperatures drop as the chance for rain increases Monday and continues through most of the week. Powell said a “significant system” rolls in Monday night, bringing with it unsettled weather in the form of rain, wind and low snow levels. “Tell the kids to bring a coat with them for spring break,” Powell said. A little rain won’t ruin local spring-break day camps. Jana Iversen, director of programs and training for the Boys & Girls Club of Auburn, said the club’s Camp Spring Break, carrying a theme of “All Around the World,” is a rain-or-shine program. “That little rain won’t stop us,” she said. “They’re not going to melt. They’ll be fine.” Camp starts today and continues through April 2. For a $60 fee, children and youth ages 6-18 are welcome to explore the world without leaving Auburn. “It’s a pretty jam-packed bargain,” Iversen said. The forecast also doesn’t frighten Debbie Thomas, youth services manager for Auburn Recreation District, which hosts a Discovery Day Camp for spring-breakers today through April 5. Discovery Day Camp spring break camp promises to keep kids in kindergarten through sixth grade entertained, rain or shine, Iversen said. “We’ve done spring break often enough to know we have to be flexible and able to adapt,” Iversen said. __________ Spring Break Camps What: “Camp Spring Break “All Around the World” Host: Boys & Girls Club of Auburn When: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through April 2 Where: Boys & Girls Club, 679 Lincoln Way Cost: $60 Information: (530) 889-2273 What: Discovery Day Camp Host: Auburn Recreation District When: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through April 5 Where: Auburn Recreation Park, 123 Recreation Drive Cost: $30 per day Information: (530) 885-8461
