Supports Maki for PCWA board

-A +A
The stakes are high and we need Cheryl Maki’s leadership on the Placer County Water Agency board. Of the three candidates running, only Cheryl has the experience of being a successful business owner for over 30 years and a city council member who successfully raised Auburn’s General Fund reserves from zero to 50 percent. Only Cheryl Maki has the extensive management skills and guts to challenge the status quo to keep water rates as low as possible for residents, businesses, ranchers and farmers. After watching the candidate debate on Oct. 9 at the Chamber Forum, it was absolutely clear to me that only Cheryl Maki has the broad range of skills and experience to ensure that the PCWA is able to cost-effectively manage all the hydroelectric and water issues in the take over of the Middle Fork Project. Cheryl will ensure that our canal system is well maintained and that dangerous dry wood fuel is removed on water agency land. She will speak with a determined voice against any attempts from Southern California to steal our water. Lastly, to be successful in an elected office one must be able to work collaboratively with other people. Cheryl, as a very successful mayor, small business owner and supporter of numerous community projects always reaches out to others to solve problems. She was named the McCann Award winner for her dedication to the betterment of our community. As a PCWA board member, Cheryl Maki will be a great advocate for us. Kevin Hanley, Mayor of Auburn
