The KinderKonzert will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, in the Placer High School Theater, 275 Orange St., Auburn. Following the death of Maestro Michael Goodwin Tuesday, the Auburn Symphony board of directors announced that the KinderKonzert will go on, “as we believe Michael would have wanted.”
Stepping in as conductor is Ryan Murray of Nevada City, choral conductor at Music in the Mountains, principal conductor of the Modesto Opera and assistant conductor for Vocal Instrumental Teaching Academy. Murray was also Goodwin’s friend.
“I look forward to meeting the orchestra and getting to make music with them, and getting to share music with young people, which I think is really important,” Murray said. “I wish that it was under different circumstances.”
