Teacher asks for yes on Measure L

I am urging all voters to vote yes on Measure L. I have been a teacher in the Auburn Union School District for more than 16 years and I can tell you firsthand that we really need your help. The state budget cuts have had huge impacts on our classrooms and students. Voters can help protect our kids by passing Measure L, a parcel tax that costs $59 a year and ends in five years. This money cannot be touched by the state and a community oversight committee will ensure that it goes only to classrooms and will directly benefit students. As a first-grade teacher, I know the importance of keeping our class sizes low so our students get the individualized attention they deserve. In addition, consecutive years of large state budget cuts are threatening core programs we have all worked hard to make successful. Strong schools make a strong community and keep property values up. For about a dollar a week you can make a big difference to students in your neighborhood. Please vote yes. Lysa Sassman, teacher, Rock Creek School
