A long overdue and heartfelt “thank you” to June Francis, owner and operator of The Second Act, a consignment store at 251 Elm Ave., Auburn. This hard-working and compassionate lady has donated countless items over many years to huge yard sales benefiting various animal rescue groups and organizations in Placer County. She still donates to thrift shops connected with the welfare of animals, namely: Friends of the Animals, Humane Society of the Sierra Foothills, Sacramento SPCA and recently the Placer SPCA. The items donated, from women’s clothing to shoes, belts, purses, etc., are in mint condition, many of them brand new, with original labels still attached. In the name of the many voiceless animals whose lives have improved due to June’s kindness, I want to say: “I am filled with gratitude. Thank you for caring for God’s neglected, thrown-away, abandoned, homeless and abused animals.” (Another thank you to my friend Anita Wright, for transporting some of these donations to the Sacramento SPCA, where she volunteers and walks dogs every Saturday).
