I and a select few received an envelope full of propaganda against Measure K. Unfortunately, you forgot to leave a return address, and so, I guess this is the only way I can communicate with you. When Measure B was on the ballot, you threatened the public with high insurance rates and lied about the present fire station was condemned. Now that Measure K is on the ballot, you are trying to manipulate the public into thinking that if Newcastle Fire Department should fail, neighboring fire departments may not respond to our emergencies because they are not obligated to do so. First of all, we are not talking about letting Newcastle Fire fail. You started that threat to frighten the public. Second of all, I never heard a fire department come up on the radio and tell dispatch they would not be responding because they were not obligated and I never will. This part of Placer County is blessed with a number of well-trained and dedicated fire agencies. These firefighters risk their lives every day to save lives and property. I think it’s a slap in the face to our neighboring fire agencies to think that they would not respond to our needs in an emergency. Because of Newcastle’s fire lines, other fire agencies have come up on scene before Newcastle. So don’t lead the public to believe that it will always take other agencies longer to get on scene.
