Timely email on death panels

I got a call Thursday from a woman and a tirade laced with profanity no lady would ever use. She was violently angry at me because I wrote that Obama should be impeached (“Impeach Barack Obama now,” Reader Input, Aug. 9). I do not tolerate profanity in my home and said goodbye.
Today I got this right-on-target email:
“Forget about getting to age 75. This morning at Danbury hospital CT at my scheduled — cardio-lite stress test to inject nuclear dye into your bloodstream and then put you in a CAT scan and take a picture of your heart to determine if you need a Roto Rooter or a bypass operation.
“At 8 a.m. the cardiology nurse said that my appointment has been canceled. Another cardiology nurse unleashed the bombshell. The Medicare board denied the procedure.
I turned to a long line behind, saying, well, you won’t have to wait too long today because my stress test procedure was canceled by a Medicare death panel. I am only 67 so can you imagine what is going to happen when we really get old.
The entire room went dead silent. I said I would write a letter to the editor of the Danbury News Times and call my senators and congressman and let them know the death panels have already convened.”
When I got home the message machine was blinking. Medicare decided to approve my stress test procedure. Could I come right back? I said no, I’m going fishing.”
