Train horn truly is a lifesaver

You are right, Mr. (Guy) Wingfield (Reader Input, July 17), but your city fathers and the police department should talk to the railroad about holding trains or run on the other track around town. As for the horn, this is a warning device. The use of a horn is to get the attention of a dog, deer or people to get out of the way. I do know if you worked for the railroad as I did for 41 years that the horn is a life and death device, so the next time you hear a horn in excess the engineer may be trying to get your dog or friends off the track.
