Transit helps senior go places

Getting to the Sacramento Airport may seem easy for those who have family that can give them a ride, but what about the senior citizen who has no one to take them? Since retirement, I have enjoyed traveling. When it is inconvenient to have a relative take you to the airport, what does one do? I checked with the shuttle service companies who will gladly pick you up at your home for $104 round-trip. I was happy to try something new and reasonable. My flight wasn’t until noon on a weekday. You can buy a book of tickets from Placer County Transit and take the Express Bus to downtown Sacramento. Yes, it’s early in the morning but how many of you have to get up early to drive to the airport? Even though the monthly fee is $80, it can be used many times over for rides into the City of Sacramento. At approximately $4 per ride, the express shuttle can pick you up at the Auburn Depot and drop you in downtown Sacramento. You can go to any downtown hotel and make arrangements for a super shuttle to pick you up. The cost is approximately $15. It’s all in the timing because you have to plan your return flight back to Sacramento so the shuttle will get you downtown so you can pick up the Express Bus back to Auburn. It may seem like a lot of work but the express ride was very pleasant. We are so lucky to have such a great Placer County Transit. Kudos to you! Joyce Pope, Auburn
