DIAMOND SPRINGS - Too much Sean Tow proved to be the downfall of the Colfax Falcons' football team here Friday night. Tow, a 5-7 157-pound sophomore running back, scored a pair of touchdowns including the go-ahead score on a 77-yard run in the second quarter to lead the host Diamondbacks to a 21-7 win over the Falcons. Colfax, now 2-1 on the season, had used a 56-yard touchdown pass from Austin Young to David Mowbray in the opening minutes of the game to take an early 7-0 lead. However, after the Falcons' score, Tow busted off a pair of touchdown runs including his 77-yard run off tackle that put the Diamondbacks, 2-0, up for good. Colfax, after falling behind 21-7 in the third quarter, missed a golden opportunity to get back into the game at the start of the fourth quarter when the Falcons failed on a fourth and goal situation from the three-yard line. Young hit on 11 of 24 passes for 192 yards and the one touchdown for the Falcons while Conner Brown was the team's leading rusher with 96 yards on 14 carries. Colfax will have a bye next week before playing its first home game Sept. 24 against Davis. Colfax JV 16 Union Mine 0 - Austin Perry and Henry Freer each scored touchdowns to lead the Falcons past the Diamondbacks. Colfax Frosh 28 Union Mine 0 - Tanner Kane tallied touchdowns on runs of 60, 65 and three yards to help lead the Falcons (2-1) to the win. Chancey Trentman, who also had a pass interception in the contest, scored the Falcons other touchdown on a 65 yard pass from Michael Wilson.
