Regarding Kim Bryant’s letter (Reader Input, Jan 5). I don’t think Tom McClintock advocated the use of nuclear weapons to fight a war. The mistakes we make in fighting a war is that we play by the rules. We call it “rules of engagement.” I call it taking a chance for high casualities. Had we fought Vietnam with a “no-holds-barred” attitude, it would have been over a lot sooner. I am sorry for civilian casualties, but when militants hide behind civilians we must protect ourselves. The terrorists today have no regard for human life. Kevin Brady, Auburn
