The Auburn Veterans Day Parade Committee is commissioned to organize, finance and conduct the yearly event. Our committee is a coalition of civic-minded military veterans and non-veterans. Community service and volunteerism are basic tenets of all veterans’ groups, service clubs/organizations and many individuals. Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, is a time to remember and celebrate the link that binds, in honor and pride, all America’s citizens and all America’s military veterans who have served in defense of our country. The Auburn Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony takes place on Nov. 11 each year. This Auburn tradition began in 1919 and has occurred every year since. Each year, the number of participants and spectators grow larger, and this year should be no exception. This year’s commemoration theme is “Women of the Armed Forces!” The Auburn community has been very supportive of our efforts to present a fabulous parade and an inspiring ceremony that it is enjoyed by all. Now, due to the growth of the event, we are in search of a few good men and women to strengthen our team and to lend a hand in producing the parade and ceremony. Pictures and information about the Veterans Day event may be viewed on our American Legion Richard W. Townsend Post 84 website. Join the salute! Join the celebration!
