Veterans Day event best ever

-A +A
Wow, Auburn came out by the thousands. This was the best year. The people and kids were waving flags and some had uniforms on. There was even a flyover by the Flying Doctors from Auburn Airport. The people who helped put it on did a great job: Cynthia Haynes the event chairwoman, VFW, American Legion, clubs, and Boy Scouts, Naval groups, Army and Marines, Eureka Lodge No. 16 with a float with Masons and other veterans riding on it. The Auburn Journal getting the word out, good pictures (Ben Furtado), staff interviews (Gus Thompson) and editor Deric Rothe. The lunch after the parade at the fairgrounds had a great program and good speakers. In 1953 I was in the Army in Korea for 17 months. Last year my wife Joan and I took a revisit tour of South Korea, which the South Korean government paid for. We had six days of tours and even went to the DMZ zone. Korea is a very modern place today. JOHN KNIERIM, Auburn
