Vote down the proposed deer hunt

With the many issues and decisions that face Placer County, I write today regarding one that bothers me deeply and has lately kept me up many nights. The subject of which I speak is the proposed Placer County special deer hunt. The mere thought of creating a junior hunt for 12- to 17-year-old children is absolutely reckless and even more so when tied to a so-called “problem” which has absolutely no research or statistics to back its foundation. Needless to say, I am both angered and saddened that Placer County would even let this proposal get this far and would actually consider enforcing this destruction of our hoofed friends. We have a responsibility to lead by example and show through our actions what people and children now, as well as all future generations to come, will look to as the model for right and wrong. To arm young children with weapons and encourage the murder of female does is heinous and has no place in Placer County, or all places for that matter. I hope to see that this issue is brought before the Placer County Board of Supervisors and then voted down. Robert Hanna, Roseville
