Vote-by-mail the way to go

There’s been a lot of proper anger over the expense necessitated by the two recent elections to fill Ted Gaines’ Assembly seat. Voter turnout was low; a friend who worked one of the precincts said there were only a dozen people who came to vote. A sensible solution would be to change all of our voting to vote-by-mail, as Oregon has done since 1981. Voter turnout in Oregon is greater and cost of voting is less. In fact, we should do this statewide to help reduce our deficit. Ron PAITICH, Auburn
