In its first move into the Auburn marketplace after buying an 18-acre site near Luther Road and Highway 49 last December, Wal-Mart has launched a local website.
Auburnwalmart.com will be updating shoppers on its plans, including building a store that will include a full-service grocery department, bakery and deli.
Wal-Mart is estimating that the new store will create about 300 new jobs.
The website also includes a video tour of some of the Bentonville, Ark.-based corporation’s newest stores to provide a look at possible architecture and landscaping, plus energy-saving features.
Wal-Mart bought the former lumber-mill site from Roseville’s Bohemia Properties for $10 million, ending speculation among some on whether Costco, Wal-Mart or another retailer would make the purchase. The land was OK’d for superstore development last September by the Placer County Board of Supervisors.
