We’re free to choose stores

Get real — Wal-Mart is a choice, not an enemy. One of the most cherished freedoms we enjoy in the U.S.A. is the freedom to choose. People who hate Wal-Mart can choose to shop elsewhere. As a consumer in Auburn, I will make my choices based on service, quality, price and convenience. If local businesses provide these, I will choose them. Many of the shoppers for a Wal-Mart in Auburn will be those already driving down the hill to shop at Wal-Mart in Roseville. One can make a pretty good case that those people shopping in Auburn will both benefit the environment by less driving and pollution from the reduced travel, as well as helping the local economy by keeping sales tax income local. So all of you Wal-Mart haters — you have your opinion, but get real — let the marketplace work and consumers decide. You choose where you shop and let others choose for themselves.
