Don’t plan on eating dinner Saturday night. Those attending Saturday’s Auburn Wine and Food Festival will likely be too full after an afternoon spent tantalizing the taste buds to even think about sitting down for some supper. The festival, in its eighth year, showcases more than two dozen wineries, paired with bite-sized creations by an equal number of Auburn-area restaurants, served up at businesses throughout Downtown and Old Town Auburn. “You can shop, eat and drink all at one time,” said Teena Wilkins, an event co-chair. “It’s a great value event. There’s so much wine, there’s so much food.” Wilkins, co-owner of Viña Castellano, said her winery will once again pair with Bootleggers Old Town Tavern and Grill to present a Spanish feast for the taste buds at OZ! Gallery of Fine Jewelry in Old Town. Tickets are available in advance at www.auburnwineandfood.com and will also be sold the day of the event, at Auburn’s Central Square in Downtown Auburn, this year’s check-in location. Central Square is the spot for buying and picking up pre-ordered tickets, getting your wine glasses and maps, dropping off raffle tickets, enjoying live music and perusing vendor booths. Don’t think you can hoof it from M and Company in Old Town all the way to Roper’s Jewelers in Downtown Saturday afternoon? Hop on the free shuttle, which starts up at 11 a.m. Stephanie Perry of Fawnridge Winery looks forward to Saturday’s festivities. “It’s a great way to introduce the people who haven’t been to our beautiful town to what we have to offer,” she said. Try Fawnridge’s 2009 Sauvignon Blanc, 2008 Chardonnay and their Le Bon Temps Rouler blend at The Golden Swann in Downtown Auburn. -------------------------------- Auburn Wine and Food Festival When: Check in starts at 11 a.m. Saturday; tasting goes from 1 to 5 p.m.; wine sales 1 to 6 p.m. Where: Downtown and Old Town Auburn Cost: $45 for wine and food, $20 for designated drivers (food only) Information: (530) 885-96444, www.auburnwineandfood.com
