Weekend events cleaned up after themselves

-A +A
I am a long-time resident of Cool and enjoy hiking in the State Recreation Area that is such an important part of this area. Last weekend, there was both a marathon run and a mountain bike race. Each event was very popular, and had 400-plus entrants plus spectators using the trails for their races. I was out the next evening to walk the dog along the route that the races had taken, and I must comment that along the miles of trails that I was on, not one single piece of trash was seen. The people putting on these events should be commended. The trails are no worse for wear, a lot of people had a great time, and as a regular user of this area I welcome such a well-run event. I am not a runner or a mountain biker, but I am protective of what I see as a truly remarkable gift to the people of this area and to all of the people who choose to enjoy the wonders of our beautiful foothill terrain. Well done! Gary Philbin Cool
