In response to Ron Lowe of Nevada City (Reader Input, Aug. 31), let me first ask you a question. What’s wrong with being patriotic? Now, in answer to your questions, the tea party is simply trying to reclaim our rights, which are vanishing under the current administration’s policies. And just because we do not agree with those policies does not mean we hate our president. We are not “dividers,” but it seems we have awakened a sleeping giant! The tea party has core values of: 1) fiscal responsibility 2) constitutionally limited government 3) free markets. These values are resonating with many Americans, including people of all ethnic backgrounds. History has shown that raising taxes in a struggling economy does not solve anything. Remember, TEA stands for “Taxed Enough Already”! Irene Allen, Colfax
