Why are we teaching kids to kill?

Will some enlightened hunter out there please tell me at what point in the development of our species did we decide that teaching our children the joy of killing was a family value we wanted to instill? And instead of using the gentle words “bag” or “tag” for the deer hunt, how about using the more precise term, “slaughter?” I assume someone has shown these sixth- graders videos of the pleasure of watching the agonies of a wounded deer while it dies. If there really is a problem, couldn’t we figure a more humane way to deal with it? Where’s our compassion and simple common sense? Certainly Kirk Uhler and Craig Stowers don’t show any!  Christopher Love, Colfax
