Wildcat wrestlers rough up Olympus at E.V. Cain

The E.V. Cain wrestling team picked up its first dual meet victory of the season Monday at home, crushing Olympus of Roseville 57-30 at Stacy Dragila Gymnasium. Josh Mason picked up a pin a 83 pounds, as did Todd Morris at 89, Will Thornton at 112, Michael Valdez at 122 and Mike Robinson at 168. Casey Yunk prevailed in a decision at 142. Ryan Talley took a decision at 205. Tony Surverkrop picked up a win at 135 after his opponent was disqualified. Landon Carp won by forfeit at 66 and Eddie Vanderdoes won by forfeit in the heavyweight division. The Wildcats’ junior varsity squad beat Olympus 51-40. E.V. Cain shined at the Springview Novice Tournament last weekend, bringing home more than a dozen gold medals. Josh Mason (80 pounds) led a host of wrestlers who went 3-0 and took gold. Morris (87), Justin Mason (93), Myles Lenover (103), Hayden Skinner (122), Conner Rubio (124), Surverkrop (133), Yunk (134), Cameron Scott (136), Jacob Peek (139), Talley (169), Vanderdoes (202), Carp (66) and Mason Lenover (139). Last week in their season opener, the Wildcats fell to Springview 51-45 in Rocklin. Carp won by decision, Morris had a pin, Clayton Baker (108) won a decision, Surverkrop won by pin, Yunk pinned his man, Robinson picked up a forfeit, Lewis won by Pin, Talley took a decision and Vanderdoes won by forfeit.
