The Foresthill High football team left no doubt who rightfully owns the Sacramento Metro Athletic League championship banner. Foresthill claimed its first league title, capping the run with a win over the defending champion. The Wildfires whipped Delta 34-8 Friday in Clarksburg to finish a perfect 8-0 run through the SMAL. The Wildfires went to work early as Tommy Sawyer hit Ian Sykes with a 24-yard touchdown pass. Wes Archbold added two rushing touchdowns in the first half and Nick Gleason had a one-yard TD plunge as the visitors built a 26-0 lead by halftime. Archbold finished with 176 yards on the ground with three TDs. Foresthill rushed for 294 yards as a team. Foresthill (9-1) will play its first home playoff game on Nov. 18 after earning a first-round bye in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI playoffs. The Wildfires will host either Vacaville Christian or Elliot Christian.
