Woman who reportedly stole childhood friend’s identity held without bail

A woman who reportedly used her childhood friend’s name when she was arrested was being held without bail as of Friday. Heather Michelle Jones was arrested on charges of false impersonation, forgery, false identification to a peace officer in additional to five drugs charges after she turned herself into the county jail Wednesday night, according to Placer County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Dena Erwin. Jones originally used the name of her childhood friend when she was arrested Monday on drugs charges. She was bailed out of jail before her fingerprints returned from the Department of Justice, revealing her true identity. Jones was scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon in Placer County Superior Court, Erwin said. Jenifer Gee can be reached at
