Work for health care for all

Dear Rep. Tom McClintock: I am dismayed at the willingness of the Republican Party to deny health care to all of the citizens of these United States, while they, themselves, have health care due to their positions as our representatives. I quote from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was signed by all states, on Dec. 10, 1948, Article 25: ?Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, and housing and medical care and necessary social services ...? I awoke on the morning of Sept. 13, 2011 with a severe case of benign positional vertigo. It was a 911 call that brought me to the Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital. I was there for four days and then transferred to rehab for three days. I need to say that Medicare, which I have been paying into all of my working life, saved the day by paying $10,357 for the charged billing of $38,523. It is noted that Blue Shield, my supplemental insurance, paid $1,494. I am fortunate to be able to pay for my supplemental and long-term insurance because I budget my expenses as best I can. Social Security does not go very far. I urge you to reconsider your thinking and realize that you need to do the right thing by working for health care for all of us. I will be looking forward to hearing from you. MILDRED LIVINGSTON, Auburn
