Worth asking: What would Jesus do?

Thank you for the story about the motorcycle group giving backpacks to the homeless (Journal, Aug. 3). The story warmed my heart. I would like to make reference to Matthew 25: 34-40. “Verily I say unto you, in so much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.” I also embrace the words of the letter writer (Aug. 7) about teaching how to fish. Both choices are valid. One is no “better” or “holier” than the other. I give thanks for all the people from many religions that give to the local food closet. I see the basket at the Congregational Church filled with food for the needy. I get a report by members about the meals and over night stays we host through the “Gathering Inn.” Many other churches are involved. The Jesus I worship gives us choices about how we respond to his teachings. NANCY PISAREK, Auburn
